I dreamed this scary lady was stood at the end of my bed beckoning me to join her. Was it a dream or was I just lucky to say NO
This shows North Abingdon cricket ground at some time in the past. My version of another painting. The main building is now a Church. The Cricket Ground migrated to the Hales Meadow site in the late 90's
This image won a BBC photography competition. The birds are common in my area & I love them. I used a much simpler background than the Photo.
This image graced the cover of a bird book but on that, the Buzzard was sitting on a rock withy the tail hidden. I migrated her to a pine tree so the tail was visible.
This section has paintings with more than one version, some of the versions being painted years apart and/or in different media. No sure the newer ones are necessarily better!
A lady called Sarah who worked for me when I was in Milton Keynes lived on a canal barge and sent cards featuring canal paintings. This one shows a winter canal junction. The watercolour above dates from 1994 while the acrylic to the right from 2021
These two are also from Sarah's cards & feature The Globe Inn, located I know not where. The watercolour on the to is from 1994, the acrylic on the bottom is, unusually, unsigned, but is likely from just before the Pandemic
Busselton is a town some way south of Perth, WA. Its famous pier was built for minerals export but is now a tourist attraction over 2 miles long with a great aquirium at the end. The train helps to avoid the walk. The top picture was 2005, the bottom 2013
These 3 watercolours of Deserts I painted more than 20 years ago. I keep meaning to do an acrylic version
The acrylic version on the right was painted over 20 years after the watercolour version on the left. Both were from my own photograph
Another 20+ year gap. We were driving through Culham & saw a crowd on the railway bridge. Being nosy, we stopped & were told a famous train was coming up the line. I had my camera in the car & managed to get a picture. Wittenham Clums are in the background
My own photo again with the now demolished power station standing against a background of the distant Chiltern hills.
These paintings were both done from a photo taken on holiday near the Lizard in Cornwall
A friend asked me to produce a copy of a painting she had seen in a store. The burgandy version was my attempt & I subesequently painted the blue version which hangs in my bedroom. I keep meaning to do another in Cadmium Red
Above is another Georgia O'Keefe painting that I saw in the Art Gallery in San Diego.
This is my version of a Georgia O'Keefe painting of the same name
Another picture inspired by a Georgia O'Keefe painting. Her work is just so exquisite that I can't help making my own poor attempt at it.
Painted from a number of Photographs taken while walking Douglas the Dog up to the shop for the morning paper
The Orange lillies were from my garden. The other 3 were pics taken at a garden centre. I cut out & stuck the images together to produce this composite. My version of flower arranging!
This beautiful Clematis grows up a trellis on the South side of our garden along with a yellow rose
Left are two early watercolours of "Daffodils" and "Dandilions & Clover" before I realised how difficult it is to darken Yellows and how much easier Acrylics are.
Radley Church was painted from a photo I took on the day my son was married there. One of the church goers liked enough to buy it!
I have lived in my current house forover 20 years and, thanks to Elaine, the front garden has won several prizes.
St James is the Church I had to attend from my boarding school. It has the distinction of the highes spire of any parish church in England.
The St Helens picture was the first I ever did in oils, over 20 years ago. I have recently started to use the medium again.
This garden was at the hotel James & I used to stay at when we went fishing in Mohill, County Leitrim.
This was my family home until I was 18. My brother now lives there
This still life is the shelf above the bath in my current house.
This was also sold as part of a charity fundraiser for the JR Hospital.
This is the Granary & Stables building at Brackenborough Hall, Louth. It has been converted to a luxury set of holiday accommodation where we have stayed a number of times with both friends & family. It is a working farm & my grandkids loved it.
My sister, Rosemary, has lived here since moving back to Lincolnshire
I did an IT contract for a company in Tonbridge & Brighton. Every lunchtime I escaped the office & went for walk around the grounds of the Castle
We stayed close by Saffron Waldon at the pub owned by Jamie Olivers dad. This is on the edge of the town with the Golf Club just round the corner to the left.
A view of the Dubai skyline via the Emirates Golf Club.
Taken from a photo of the television coverage of a European Golf Tour event
Skidbrooke village in North East Lincolnshire, no longer exists as such. The Church is Redundant and empty. I used to come here as a small boy with my father to see the Herons that used to nest in the tall trees surrounding the Church.
A number of my ancesters are buried in the churchyard.
I hope the picture conveys the open flat nature & the huge skies of the North-East Lincolnshire coastal plain. Skidbrooke is no more than a couple of miles from the sea.
Some of my inspiration comes from pictures displayed on cruise ships we have been on voyages on. I have never copied the actual paintings but these works may be described as "in the style of" the original artist.
Another painting as my version of a painting I saw on a Cruise Ship
I saw a similar painting to this on a Cruise Ship. I loved the image of walking into the light. Some say this is what Death is like! Others prefer the image of the Skeletal figue with the Sythe riding Binky!
I first saw the paintings of Sveta Esser years ago on a cruise ship. She is a Russian born artist now living in Israel I believe. I was captivated by the style & have done a number of paintings in a similar style.
Ilyateve is an Azerbaijan born artist now living in Isreal whose paintings I saw on a Cruise Ship. His style is based on very thisck paint applied with a palette knoife. I have attempted versions but never been brave enough to use sufficient thickness of paint.
Brodinsky is another Russian artist now located in Israel whose work I first saw on a cruise ship
One of the cruise ship bars had a series of paintings such as this on its walls. Wacky as you get
This is not from a cruise ship but the original hangs on the wall of our Doctor's Surgery.
I liked the colours
I love doing paintings for kids. Whether they appreciate them or not is a different question!
My Grandkids were bonkers about Paw Patrol and I painted these pics of Chase, Skye, & Rubble for them. Sadly they ended up being given away to kids who better appreciated them.
I saw the top Toadstool picture in a shop in Whitby & coming home I attempted a version. To make it my own I replaced the Snails with "Slugpigs".. These come about because although I can draw a Pig face, I am hopeless at legs! Both paintings are mixed media in that Jewels &fabric butterflies are used.
